There's a black bar - is there carousel functionality lurking here? How do we use it?
Can the max vertical height be adjusted?
Write new issues as needed, based on findings

The black bar, as it turns out, is a dynamically editable text blurb that you can't currently see because we have not yet tweaked the ability file in gw-sufia to give users "admin" access. Once we do that, you can edit the text in the black bar, add featured works, and write the featured researcher blurb.
