Consider adding "draft" state to defer inclusion in "Recently Uploaded" #28

Currently an item appears in the "Recently Uploaded" list immediately upon uploading, even if the Visibility is marked Private. There does not appear to be a way to upload an item in a "draft" state that will avoid having it show up under Recently Uploaded.

Do we want to revisit "Recently Uploaded" and make it more of Recently Published (or better term)? How would this apply to Collections? What if you had an item that was published, then moved back to Draft, then re-published - should it show up in the list?

What if a Collection had a new item uploaded? Does the Collection show up in the list? The Item? Both?

Private items should not appear in the recently uploaded list unless you are the depositor or have been granted access by the depositor. The closest to 'draft' we have now is setting something to private, but you're right, when it's set to 'open access' it won't appear among recently uploaded items. (There's no notion of published vs. unpublished, really.)

The easiest way to get collections into the list would be to pop 'em in on creation. But it bears saying: we can make this work however y'all really want. We should chat about that and I can give you a sense of how time-consuming a feature will be.
