closing artisan causes blue screen #27

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
couldn't reproduce it

What I did was:
1. starting artisan
2. no meter connected
3. opened recorded file (*.txt)
4. panned and zoomed the axis to fit the roasting profile into the window
5. closed artisan

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected artisan to close. A error message ocurred saying something like "an
error occured. see artisan.exe.log for details"
I clicked the ok-button in this message and a blue screen occured.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.3.3 OS W7

Please provide any additional information below.
The artisan.log.file contained only a few lines:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "artisan.py", line 388, in timerEvent
File "artisan.py", line 683, in VOLTCRAFTK204
File "artisan.py", line 7818, in CENTER309temperature
UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe4 in position 36:
ordinal not in range(128)

This lines have been repeated many times (file size 1347 kb!)

I'm sorry to say but it seems the error is still there:
In the meantime the error occured twice (with version 0.3.4) and I have been
quick enough to take pictures of the blue screen (see attached files).
The second picture (P1280440_resize.JPG) is from just now and the other one
from 9 days ago. In both cases I already finished the roasting (two batches
each time), switched off and disconnected the Voltcraft K204, put my notebook
back into the docking station, added some notes to the last roasting profile,
saved this profile and closed artisan by clicking on the red closing button in
the right top corner of the window. Right after closing the blue screens occur.
There were no error messages (like the first time when I reported the issue)
prior to the blue screens.
The artisan.exe.log-file is dated 2011-02-21 which means, there is no
information recorded since the error I reported in February :-(
If you need some more information please let me know!
Regards,
Michael

Today I did the next roasting after Mar 18th: again a blue screen :-(
Procedure was quite the same as last time.
Looks like this happens every time I close Artisan.

Michael

Hi.

What processor are you using? It could be related to the cpu. If it is an old
proicessor, try this:

http://code.google.com/p/artisan/downloads/detail?name=artisan-win-0.4.1-celeron
.zip

and report back. Thanks.

I'm using a Intel Core2 Duo P8700 2,54 GHz. OS is a 32 Bit W7.
(notebook is a Dell Latitude E 6500)
I can't imagine this is the reason.

Rgds,
Michael

Hi again.

Could you post a recent the artisan.log.txt error file?

Does the problem only occur after you press the ON button (ie. you can open and
close artisan without problems as long as the ON has not been pressed)?

Does your K204 meter use a USB driver (ie HH309 does) and if so what version?

Thanks

Hard to reproduce on our side. Closing this track as it communication broke and
newer versions of Artisan might have resolved this.
