How to remote edit composer.json or other json files that require command line software updates? #435

craft cms IDE: atom and package ftp-remote-edit

I need to update the composer.json and that then downloads and updates the vendor software I need. I need to be able to use the commandline to update but I am not able to update and upload composer files. I am getting remote access denied every time I go to uload a file. Any idea how I can compand line updates remote files living on the server?
