Transformicons: Animated CSS Icons #163

Closed grayghostvisuals closed 9 years ago

So I bought transformicon.com and transformicons.com for this project and I'm interested in moving the current repository I'm working on under the H5BP organization and worked on by the H5BP members before releasing it to the public for PRs. The ultimate goal is a builder (ala bootstrap/modernizr checkboxes) that will download the proper file(s) authors require.

I feel these little bits of interaction are really delightful and think they would be really useful to others packaged up in a quick fashion. Here's a screencast of my progress so far with refinements that includes the addition of the last button on the bottom. transformicon

Great stuff. I'm maybe not a CSS-star, but I can help with the project architecture and also I'm willing to help with a builder.

@grayghostvisuals Did you talk to @SaraSoueidan about the above? Why not contribute back to her repository and evolve it?

I would prefer to do it that way too. I like the ideas you have about this project, but you should first talk to her about that.

@alrra + @arthurvr I see Sara's repo meant more for the discussion/education on the techniques. This would be more of an evolved situation meant for free distribution -not education. I think having Sara and Bennett listed as the initial spark is more than fair. Sara's repo currently says MIT licensed.

I'm not looking to make money here, but build on the idea further for the greater good of the community. I love both their work and having names immortalized into the project is an honor IMO -not hurtful. As you can see in my fork I'm not trying to hide the origins by any means. There are plenty more options to be made with this idea and not just limited to the one's shown above (which includes the one I made).

@alrra + @arthurvr Thank you both very much for referring back to me on this. I appreciate that. =)

@grayghostvisuals is right, the code is under MIT and you guys can do whatever you want with it. FWIW, I'd love to see Dennis' project become available and would be more than happy that @bennettfeely 's icons from our article and repo are the starting point for that project, and I'm sure @bennettfeely would feel the same.

Thank you @grayghostvisuals for the mention in the project, I appreciate that as well.

Cheers!

@SaraSoueidan Sorry if I didn't say anything sooner to you and hopefully it's not taken as “going underneath you,” but taken as someone who inspired me to go further with this (which is the case here).

I'm for anything that can get this off the ground. I'd like to see this as everyone's project rather than just me. I think what you wrote about is a great start to something even more grand. I would love to see Bennett and yourself take part as well.

Again if you would like the repo to be underneath your account I'm happy to do so I just want what is the best to start this off  :beers: :sunflower:

@arthurvr Do you still have interest in helping with a builder? I think we can start the discussion on my fork before making a branch. LMK.

arthurvr commented 9 years ago

Do you still have interest in helping with a builder?

@grayghostvisuals Surely, maybe you can open an issue in your fork? We could talk further right there. I'm not going to have many spare time the upcoming weeks, but I like the project and I'm still willing to work on this.

grayghostvisuals commented 9 years ago

This project is going to be kept on my account for now. Anyone interested feel free to jump on in. Thanks y'all.

+1

I would like to contribute to this project as it has definitely a design feature that anybody would like to embed in his future project.

grayghostvisuals commented 9 years ago

@jfroffice Awesome! leave me a new issue and title it what you're interested in working on.

To Everyone Else Please leave me any future questions in the issue tracker regarding the project. :beers:

jfroffice commented 9 years ago

@grayghostvisuals I left three new issues as a starting point. But I can try to work on anything in order to start.
