When using an iCloud account configured for two-factor authentication, trying to use an app-specific password fails with "Request /setup/authenticate/$APPLE_ID$ returned code 401"

I don't think app specific passwords can be used in this case because a real device wouldn't be able to restore from a app specific password during the initial setup. I don't think a work around is actually possible here.

Bump. There are plenty of GUI-based applications that provide this functionality.
