Gloomy/dark lighting in main area #23

One the current space issues for the main area is that the area is relatively dark. This makes it very hard to see things and makes the space look rather gloomy.

The advantage of this dark lighting makes it good for bars but I don't think that Hackerspace SG is aiming to be a bar.

Does anyone else find this troubling as well? Any suggestions to fix this?

Following up from yesterday's plenum

We have discussed and agreed that although this is a low priority issue, it will become a higher priority issue as meetups start to resume.

@geekyjoyce72 has commented that she will try to program all the lights to become bright white and if it still isn't sufficiently bright, we may need to change to brighter LEDs or florescent lighting.

We will follow up on this issue on the next plenum

Discussion from 2022-05-24 plenum:

  • To switch out current off-the-shelf controller for STM32 (Joyce @geekyjoyce72)
    • Some lights could light up, see renovation chat updates
    • Soldered up shield for connecting lights to microprocessor
    • Need to find time to test during daylight hours

We do not intend to work on this any further since we will be moving out in 2.5 months.
