Darn.... yeah it probably expired and nobody renewed it. It could be brought back to life, sure - but that's a question of will and effort. Right now I don't see it happening realistically. It might happen but with a new/revamped website whenever shoes runs hacketyachl but not sure
What do we think about putting up a static page at hackety.com which gives a bit of oral history on the project and links back to the source repositories for anyone interested?
If that's a route that we want to pursue I can try to make the time over the next week to get something building on GitHub Pages or Netlify or somesuch host.
that sounds like agreat idea @nuclearsandwich ! Thing is, to get it redirecting there and not from the heroku app we'd need to get a hold of @steveklabnik to change the DNS settings - but that should be possible he's just busy often :)
I let the domain expire, it's true. With no updates in years, I figured it was finally time to let things go.
I would be happy to redirect DNS/transfer the domains I do have to whoever they need to go to.
Ha magic mentions to magic Steve, cool  :hugs:  :rocket:
No bad thing about letting it expire, it really has been dead for a long time... and good to let it go. I like the idea of having a github page for the remaining domain (to maybe revive it at some point although I'll only believe it when I see it). So, I guess candidates to transfer it to would be @nuclearsandwich or me
Thanks @steveklabnik
Pinging @jasonrclark as he might also be interested :)
I'd be glad to take on the administrative load of owning the domain (what's one more to a domain hoarder ) as long as I can find a way to make sure that @PragTob can also get at the DNS configuration, and ideally domain ownership as well, so that there's at least a couple folks within the project with full access in case I am replaced by an evil twin.
Would be totally interested to make sure the domain's somewhere Shoes folk can access it, but also comfortable if @PragTob and @nuclearsandwich got it covered.
Exploring a few avenues to share domain administration. @jasonrclark and @pragtob are the emails on your GitHub profile your preferred ones for discussing this?
Yes indeed @nuclearsandwich. Thanks!
Sooo....what's the update with this?
As of 2017-03, The website http://hackety-hack.com hosts a shady, unrelated website. Has the domain registration expired?
The alternative website http://www.hackety.com (linked from Wikipedia) shows an Heroku application error. Could it be brought back to life?
