Welcome to Hack for LA's Slack! :tada: This is our central hub for all communications. Your next goal is to get engaged with a project. The experience on a project team is a lot like a startup, and we use similar methods. Like in a startup, you have the opportunity to define your own role and areas of responsibility, which can be amazing for your personal satisfaction. But you're also fitting into a small organization with its own practices and culture. How to pick a project? In a way you'll find each other. :heart_eyes_cat: But you have to start somewhere... Are they working on a topic that motivates you? Can you exercise the skills you want to build? Does their working style accommodate your availability and goals? We have several ideas for how you can find the right fit: Check out the onboarding videos linked from our Getting Started page. Read the project descriptions linked from the home page. And by all means... introduce yourself in the #new-joiner-orientation channel! Share a couple sentences about what brought you to Hack for LA, and ask any questions you like. :eyes:
