Edit Slack onboarding message and process

Overview

We need to edit the Slack onboarding message and process so people who join our Slack can be onboarded properly.

Welcome to Hack for LA's Slack! :tada: This is our central hub for all communications. Your next goal is to get engaged with a project. The experience on a project team is a lot like a startup, and we use similar methods. Like in a startup, you have the opportunity to define your own role and areas of responsibility, which can be amazing for your personal satisfaction. We have Communities of Practice (CoP) meetings and channels so you can connect with people from your same practice: • #data-science • #ops (all about hosting and other cross project operational stuff - recently we talked about github and, other other underlying tech we use, depreciating master/slave technical designations and how we would implement the changes necessary to join this movement). We will be launching new CoP channels and meetings in the following areas soon (UI/UX and Product). Any challenges? For most questions, you can find a channel and reach out to folks there. If you’re stuck or don’t know where to start, you can reach out to @Bonnie (co-captain) and @wesley (he/him; fmr co-captain)

Go to https://hackforla.slack.com/customize/get-started to change information on Getting Started Page

Go to @GreetBot on Slack and use the command settings to change the message there as well.

Steps for Greetbot

click edit button to enter new content.
