The Hack For LA Data Science team is a Community of Practice within the LA brigade seeking to make analytical and machine learning services available to local communities and organizations.
Volunteer Opportunity: The goal of the project is to develop consensus questions to be answered by public figures. Problem: Based on a vector of groupings of subtopics submitted by many users, find the ideal grouping of overarching topics and select the four most highly weighted topics. Skillsets: Algorithms (recommender, ranking, graph-based). Technologies: Numpy, scikit-learn, pandas. Plus: exposure to statistical analysis.
