Internal "quick and dirty" research to improve Volunteer Engagement #1472

Open bkobak33 opened 1 year ago

bkobak33 commented 1 year ago

Overview

This research is part of a preliminary effort to understand the pain points for new volunteers as they attend the L.A. Works orientation session and begin validating organizations. Starting in October 2022, the UX Research team will distribute short questionnaires and conduct usability walk-throughs with internal members of the FOLA research and design teams once they have attended a Saturday session.

By conducting research internally, the goal is to find more specific questions and issues to address with external volunteers in the future (for UX benchmarking specifically). This research was conducted alongside the surveys distributed to UCLA students in Fall semester 2022. Ultimately, by studying existing sources of confusion and/or frustration, the goal is to make the Food Oasis website easier to use and the overall volunteer experience more engaging and inspiring for volunteers.

@GigiUxR @bkobak33 @cheesarah This issue had been created without being associated with a project board. I added it to the In Progress column on the main Project Management board.

@GigiUxR Can this issue be closed? It looks like issue #1503 covers the same or similar content.

Several student data validation volunteers (2024-04) have asked to see a record of their past submissions and to be able to see the approval status, perhaps even being notified by email.

I take this to mean that right now, they’re kind of tossing their submissions into a void and don’t know if they did good or not, so they’d like some feedback.

It would also be nice for volunteers who come back repeatedly to see a pile of past validation work.
