Sent the following to Mateo on 2022-03-30 Hi Mateo,

We are thrilled that you are interested in an internship with us this year 😎, and are looking forward to helping you with your handshake application process so that we can learn more about them, and how we might utilize them for other interns in the future.

We have been following the BWS application process and have not yet accepted the other applicants, however given your deadline and that handshake could run out of money if you don't apply immediately, we are offering you an internship immediately (subject to the below) with an interview to be scheduled later. You will still need to fill out our application, confirm that you can do the hours and times required, and send us your resume.

Please

Please anticipate that it will take us 5 business days to provide the documentation that you need for your application, after you send us the above.

We are very excited!

Best,

Bonnie

Hope you have been doing well! Junior year has flown by but it's been a great experience thus far. Being back on campus with in-person learning has been refreshing, and I feel that taking a gap year has proven to be the best decision for me. I took a rigorous class schedule this year, focusing on machine learning in the fall and software engineering this spring. Our internship last summer solidified my interest in pursuing a career in software engineering. I'd love to be able to develop the skills that I've been learning over the course of this school year with an organization as meaningful as yours. My school is offering summer funding for students to be able to work for non-profits with a social impact, civic engagement and/or public policy mission. I know that Hack for LA meets this criteria, and I would absolutely love to work with you again. I'm free to meet anytime this week to discuss this opportunity and look forward to being in touch soon!

Thank you!

Hi Mateo,

I could meet this Saturday at 9am PST if that works for you. If not, I can look for another time in my schedule. If it does work for you, send me a google calendar invite with a zoom link.

Best,

Bonnie

Amazing, that all sounds great! I only need "a letter or email from my supervisor that verifies my start/end dates and expected number of hours per week" and I'll be able to submit my application. I want to work 30+ hours a week so I think stating my expected hours per week is 30 will be perfect in the application. Is it possible to set up a brief meeting to discuss which teams I could work with? There's a section in the application related to what my project will be and I think it would be extremely helpful to hear your perspective on some of the initiatives you think are currently having the largest social/civic impact. Thank you!

Best, Mateo
