@ExperimentsInHonesty my slack conversation with Kevin:
Rabia Shaikh 2:25 PM Hello Kevin, I hope you are doing well. Don't know if you remember, but I crashed your CoP meeting a few weeks ago to recruit for the #internship project. I am reaching out to you again as per Bonnie's instructions for help with the accessibility aspect of our project specifically and HackforLA in general. We need to conduct research from the UI/UX perspective regarding these two questions: Will a student who may have visual, hearing, dexterity and/or any other disability be able to successfully join and complete the Internship Program? Will someone who may have visual, hearing, dexterity and/or any other disability be able to successfully join, volunteer and learn at HackforLA? Bonnie suggested to have a special event and have an expert on accessibility/WCAG come to speak for one of the CoP meetings. I can help with that if you would be interested. Let me know. Thank you.
Rabia Shaikh 2:55 PM I found this: https://www.w3.org/TR/2021/WD-remote-meetings-20211014/#accessibility-context w3.orgw3.org Accessibility of Remote Meetings This document summarizes considerations of accessibility that arise in the conduct of remote and hybrid meetings. Such meetings are mediated, for some or all participants, by real-time communication software typically built upon Web technologies. Issues of software selection, and the roles of meeting hosts and participants in providing access are explained. Relevant W3C documents are referred to, where applicable, as sources of more detailed and in some instances normative guidance.
Kevin Wang 2:56 PM Having an accessibility expert speak sounds like a good idea. 2:58 I don't know anyone who specialize in accessibility but I can find some. If you know some please reach out to them as well.
Rabia Shaikh 7:59 PM I don't know anyone...but I will be looking around...I will update you on the progress... (edited)
Found that figma has a plugin for accessibility and mentioned in the resources.
Bonnie mentioned that Kiki at HfLA was the expert on accessibility
It is possible to be part of this as well. Or to just be included in a process. I know I am still on the other project but accessibility is something I would love to do.
I can also help with this as well! Maricel and I can work on it together to find more research findings for better accessbility
@Justlee98 @maruja0516 awesome, let's discuss more during our meeting.
Update from Bonnie: Should we tighten up the guide and then get input from an accessibility expert? And then have them come in?
Also posted this message on the guides channel: @channel Bonnie asked to address this question at your next meeting ” For the guides project what is the total addressable market?”

@ExperimentsInHonesty can we add feature: compliance or feature: epic to this issue?
or create a new label called feature: audit as we have another issue for audit and may do more?
@Rabia2219 I am moving this issue to the icebox because we have some guidance now about how to make our organization more accessible and need to implement that first before we ask for more guidance from outsiders.

Overview
As an inclusive community, we need to make sure that all our projects provide accessibility to people of all abilities to participate, learn and grow. To present this simply, we need to answer these two questions:
