Copying @AzaniaBG's Agenda from #101 to the new meeting issue

Overview

I'm formalizing our discussion at the 11/16/2022 meeting (inspired by Joey's Slack summary). The goal is to create and prioritize issues that team members can assign themselves to improve the PeopleDepot Wiki(s) and Guides. I also wanted to capture some of Fang's feedback on my PR.

Action Items

We added everyone to the google drive, roster, and peopledepot-write
ReadtheDocs could be something cool to work towards to, but would require setting up files following the format of Read the Docs and also would add complexity to what needs to be done already for People Depot. https://docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/tutorial/
Joey will be Interim Project lead
After reviewing Ethan’s comment, will merge last PR for README.md and contributing.md will work to make sure there’s some progress for issues, review of commits, regular meetings, following proper templates for HFLA
- If anyone has an issue following the updated contributing guide, please create a new issue about it
participation is welcomed but lack of participation is not shameful, #people-depot is a judgement free zone!

Ethan: would like to get in touch with VRMS team to better understand, see or create a list of requirements
Nicole: Bonnie has expressed that if we have a working prototype, VRMS can use it to create their next version and make adjustments based on our design decisions; possibly implying that backend can drive the requirements, while understanding future changes in requirements may drive future iterations
Fang: agrees that it'd be nice to have VRMS or work with VRMS so that we can have a list of requirements, but VRMS is made of entirely new members, so we'll see how to connect with them starting 2023
Joey: thinks things will become much more clear after he dives in to the ERD and dig into the code, but will do what he can. Btw, please review his PR.

Fang noted his computer hard drive died and needed time to get thing running again

decide on a name for the service bot. The website uses Elisabeth Honest and ops has Daniel Ridge. Discuss and let @admin team know what to name the email account and add to our vault. Then sign up for a github account using that email and add the info to the vault

Joey worked with Jason from ops on AWS deployment
- Joey was able to upload the docker image to ECR (container registry on AWS that holds docker images for deployment) but there were errors.

Joey worked with Jason on AWS deployment
- Resolved a configuration issue with image address, but seeing another error about exec format error
Fang made changes to PR #128

2/9

pre-meeting work

From a SO post, Fang and Cynthia speculated that the AWS problem could be a CPU architecture mismatch issue with the docker image that Joey built and pushed. AWS would most likely need intel 64 bit binaries while Joey might have been building ARM binaries if he was using an M1 Mac.
Joey confirmed that he's using an M1 Mac.
Jason found a guide for building docker images for different platforms by setting the --platform flag.
Ava confirmed that the architecture issue for images does happen for her on M1.

- Confirmed architecture problem and resolve it passing the platform flag for linux/amd64 to the docker build command from his M1 mac, which is ARM.
Bonnie assigned us use of the zoom2 account on Thursdays 4-5pm for our team meeting.
Bonnie created a calendar event and added people who wished to receive it.
Bonnie added the PeopleDepot project to VRMS and Fang logged in added the recurring team meeting.
Bonnie showed us how to add recruitment for a PM.

[ ] We're going to switch away from VRMS and work with CTJ to implement their requirements. This is because VRMS is currently not ready to work on integration with PD. CTJ, on the other hand, does want to.

Bonnie created new milestones and we went through current issues as a group. We split up table issues into priority groups (MVP labels, to be renamed).

People Depot needs a new name that is more engaging and/or descriptive to attract more interest. We plan to bring this to the rest of Hack4LA (in the #general slack channel) for name ideas.

The events tables need to be revisited. Currently, they are designed based off of how VRMS does things. We want to change this to something more in line with data standards.

The issues in the in-progress list did not receive MVP labels and need to be looked through.

Ava came by to talk about her project's (CTJ) needs.
Project management users. It's not something we have. We have individual users. Maybe we need to implement API keys so that CTJ can have permission to do the things they need as an API client?
Permissions. We have user, project admin, and admin. We will add any permission type CTJ needs. (job poster permission, etc.)
Project info with name, logo, program area, slack channel
Roles (as in job roles). There's a repo that documents the current ones. Maybe CTJ can help update it.
We will try to minimize the friction of using our API. CTJ will hide the actual calls in their backend anyway.

Jason: The repo is still up, Jason has disabled the service. It keeps erroring out because it keeps trying to deploy. Can you build a new docker image.

Fang: Here is the notes about the entry point in People Depot Incubator Overview

Joey: Changed the entry point script.

Was able to build, tag, and push a new docker image successfully to AWS ECR based on changes made in app/entrypoint.sh script.
Ready for Jason to run terragrunt commands (terragrunt plan -lock=false, terragrunt apply -lock=false) to provision new ECS people-depot-backend-dev within cluster incubator-prod. (Jason has the project.hcl)

147 PermissionType data in the tables spreadsheet should include a default permission that has almost no permission, like "Unverified user" or "Pre-onboarded user". Remember that anyone is free to sign up for the cognito account before onboarding. Right now, the lowest level is memberGeneral.

In that case of a new issue that's supposed to become a dependency for an ongoing issue, the best practice is to create the issue, don't add a dependency section to the ongoing issue until it goes through the new issue review, but do add a note to the ongoing issue informing the person working on it that there's a potential dependency.
Clarification on the API access. We thought that cognito user account was the only authentication required for API access. Now we realize we also need API tokens for each app that needs access.

We discussed how Knowledgebase needs to interface with PD. It should authenticate with PD via the API and then the KB app can expose its admin site if that's how it works. But all apps needs to interact with PD via the API.
We also looked at issues to see which ones can be put into the prioritized backlog, since there's only 1 available for backend work right now.

for migration conflicts in PRs, the reviewer should make the quick fix change to more quickly clear the PR backlog
we looked at how the PR columns work in the website team and decided to implement ones for new PRs and PR "being reviewed"
we added a PR template to remind contributors to add the issue number to the PR, as well as add some relevant information about the change
create table issues without dependencies shouldn't have been moved to the ice box we need to move the workable ones back to prioritized backlog
