The parts in red of this image do not open, the cables just pull out. Many people have broken their systems by attempting to open them. The hardmod tutorial that is linked does not mention this.

This is a new3ds xl motherboard but there are 2 points like them on the non xl in the bottom left of the mobo, one at the top, and one next to the connector for the battery board.
