Old3DS <=9.9.0 (-27) browserhax entrypoint not returned by auto-page, confuses some users #801

The current writeup for Section IV of the Homebrew Launcher (Browser) page instructs all users to scan the QR code for yellow8's 3dsbrowserhax_auto.php page. There is a specific subset of 3DS users who this will not work for: Old 3DS users on 9.9.0 firmware or earlier (assuming browser version -27). This is because the Old 3DS needs to use a different web browser exploit "sliderhax" which is not returned by the auto-page. This is not an issue for New 3DS users as the auto-page will return an exploit "browserhax_fright" that works for the New 3DS browser on such a firmware.

I've personally guided two users who were Old 3DS users on 9.6 and 9.9 firmware, who couldn't understand why browserhax wasn't working by instructing them to use a QR code for sliderhax instead of the autopage. The troubleshooting guide doesn't help either, as initializing the save data and trying again won't make a difference in this scenario.

Yea I've had quite a number of people hit this very same problem. Sliderhax was the only thing that worked for them

Considering the upcoming release of soundhax which'll work on all 3DS firmwares with no online requirement, this will most likely obsolete any browserhax and game exploits as it is. In the future, it might not even be a guide for a9lh, who knows? This is exciting.

@RupeeClock actually they may patch soundhax, but we will always need homebrew.

And soon,it will be a cfw direct in the console (like a ps3,for anyone who is wondering)

RupeeClock commented 7 years ago

@mariogamer2 Naturally I expect that soundhax will probably get patched in the next 3DS firmware update. The 3DS Sound system title hasn't been updated since 7.0 firmware either. That said, as a current solution it obsoletes nearly every other entrypoint.

This is no longer an issue for any version other than KOR, which should have soundhax support soon.
