Good morning hackseqrs,

A big thank you to all the participants, team leaders, mentors, sponsors and fellow organizers for making hackseq18 a huge success. We'd like to give an especially big thank you to our main sponsor ECOSCOPE for their continued partnership.

People's Choice Winner

This year was a pretty intense competition with some seriously cool projects. Hat's off to Team beRi led by Rob Gilmore with Bruno Grande, Hamid Younesy, Kristen Bystrom, Michelle Lee, Santina Lin, Shaurita Hutchins, and Zhi Yuh Ou Yang for taking the cake and being crowned our bio-hackers supreme. You can learn more about their project and see what everyone else was up to on the hs18 Project Page.

Also remember, just because hackseq is over doesn't mean your project has to be. Last year's Team bioSyntax recently published their hackseq project and we're stoked to see more publications arise from hackseq. To support the ongoing development of your project we're offering up to $500 (CAD) to cover publication costs of the manuscript based on your hackseq project.

BioHaiku Contest

Thanks to everyone who contributed to our Bio"Hack"u contest. We had 38 entries which you can read here. David Guo blew us away with his winning entry:

Computing resources

The accounts that are set up on the GSC's ORCA servers will be disabled at the end of this week, and all data will be deleted. If there's any code or data that you would like to preserve, please move it somewhere else by this Friday.

ok, so here's 7Gate: http://7gate.vc they have offered free space for up to one month in their Gastown office location for anyone who wants to work on their project further. This is especially true for those who would want to pitch it to investors, etc. I am getting the contact info to include, where would the text go?
