hackseq19 deliverable #21

Hey @hs19_organizers + Team Leads,

I've been thinking a bit about the deliverables for hackseq this year. In the past it has been abstract + short talk, but with 15+ projects going, that's going to be very short talks and I'm afraid it might drag on for a while.

Maybe if we can get ping all team leads to chime in here and come to a consensus beforehand we can explore alternative deliverables. My initial thoughts are doing the 'presentations' via online videos (YouTube) and/or making an informative and catchy "About Page" for the project.

Why not 3min lightning talks? I saw those on SBME at UBC few weeks ago, you have 2 slides and 3 minutes to summarize your research, so for the hackseq projects that should fit as well. 15x3 = 45, so within reasonable attention span.

Related but not exactly on topic: we had the idea that a project's readme should be reviewed by some other project's member. If the external member gets it, then they're good to go.

3 minutes would be reasonable, sure. I guess I was thinking more in having the deliverable be something more permanent such that it can be shared in the future and be a record of what's going on. It would help kind of build up a base of 'what kind of projects are hackseq about', a question I've often gotten from people interested in hackseq.

You could record the 3 minute presentations on ytube, vimeo ... ?

I think I will : P

Personally I don't like the lightning talks. I'd be down for having teams create an infographic or about page to showcase instead.
