hackseq is in search of stoked scientists (a.k.a. you) to make the next generation of hackseq happen! What better way to kick off the roaring 20s then to help organize a transformative bio+informatics hackathon!
We're going to be kicking off the decade with a double bang. In May we're planning hackseqRNA, a collaboration with the international RNA society to bring together world-class researchers to Vancouver for an RNA-focused hackathon in time with RNA Society meeting. Then in October hackseq2020 will be the biggest hackathon yet, building upon the magic of previous years.
We're looking for stoked and creative individuals who are passionate about science and building a collaborative open-science community in Vancouver. If you you're up for a challenge and have a good DIY attitude, shoot us an email at hackseq@gmail.com and let us know what your strengths are and how you want to contribute.
We're currently in need of the following roles, but if you're interested/talented in something else let us know too.
- Logistics (2x people)
Nourishment: Track dietary restrictions of attendees, organize meals, snakes and coffee. Organize the pivotal evening socials and schmooze while giving out drink tickets.
Logistics lead: Stationary, signage, schedules... if it's a physical object needed for the hackathon then you're going to make sure it's there on the day of. Think of fun and creative 'side projects' like the "Haiku Contest" or T-shirt making to give the next hackathons a special touch.
- $ponsorship (2x people)
Sponsorship leads: Get your palm grease ready, this position is perfect if you want to build your network with academics and industry alike. Your job is to find and secure partnerships for hackseq to help make the event happen.
- Participant applications (2x people)
Establish the participant application form and then share it far and wide to recruit. You'll help sort participants into teams and be the point of contact for all the questions.
