I don't think this is going to be practical. Getting a large enough set of icons that look good on a map with lots of text is going to be next to impossible. Current alternate thought: circles shaded by type.

Got this to work, but for lack of really finely tuned icons I'm punting it anyone. Tuned the icon style to be more visible in 8d67994cf4afc7c29e8197213d138c6ec1e7067b.
