Ads showing in curseforge.com #4264

How do ads in curseforge.com come through? I have checked the logs in Controld and nothing shows up and when I check from what domain those ads are coming from. I see domains that I know are blocked by your filters. Stuff like googleadservices and googleads.g.doubleclick.net.

Here is an example: Näyttökuva 2024-11-09 141750 The exact domain in the picture is https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/sophisticated-core

To my knowledge these should be blocked with DNS but for some weird reason they are not.

Thank you in advance!

The ad on the left does not appear for me. Chrome without content blocker using Ultimate.

Cannot be blocked with DNS, you need a browser content blocker.

With Light, also no ads on the left.

@user716253 Do you use any other lists? There are a few domains, if these are blocked, the ads are loaded from the internal server of the site, see e.g. https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists/issues/3620

This is odd...

For adblocking I only use your Ultimate list. I use Controld's own security related filters like malware/phishing, new domains etc. But I don't use their ad/tracker filter.

I have tried the same website with Brave and Edge. I have flushed dns and used incognito mode but the ads are still showing up.

Chrome, ControlD DoH with Ultimate and malware/phishing/... native lists:

Added Ads & Trackers strict, no ads.

Blocked domains:

www.google-analytics.com
www.googletagmanager.com
pagead2.googlesyndication.com
analyticssec.overwolf.com
sb.scorecardresearch.com
www.clarity.ms
s.nitropay.com
ogads-pa.googleapis.com

You seem to have a bypass past ControlD somewhere.

I reconfigured controld on this pc with their app. Now it blocks those ads. Thanks for the help!
