Floods the dns with requests when blocked, possible battery drain on mobile devices. If not blocked, 1-2 requests are made per day.

I only have one request for dit.whatsapp.net in my 90 day log. Might be a region thing.

That may well be the case, perhaps the platform also plays a role. I can confirm the behavior for iOS devices. One of the top blocked domains in the family networks. If you unblock it, the requests are drastically reduced.
