There are various types of water pumps, although there’s no ideal sewage pumping machine for every purpose. Water pumps are used to dewatering or to reduce downtimefrom large rainfalls. Water pumps must be evaluated based on price, durability, performance, and low downtime. Having a good understanding of this systems is important to reduce cost and increase the durability and overall performance of the machinery.

Centrifugal pumps These are rotating impellers that move the water into the pump and pressurize the flow of the water that comes out. The model comes in three different alternatives: standard, trash, and submersible. All kinds of liquids can be pumped with a centrifugal machine, even low viscosity liquids.

Disadvantage and uses of the centrifugal pump Centrifugal pumps present the following disadvantages: • The properties of the different fluids can corrode the sewage pumping • Some pumps might overhead if the liquid doesn’t recirculate properly • In order to operate properly, centrifugal pumps are filled with liquid, but if the pump if empty, it will not work • The suction head of the system may be to low for some projects • The machinery can be damaged by solid objects • The long rotating shaft may leak Some applications for this system are: • In buildings, to pump water supply into places where there’s no need for suction lift • To boost pressure on boost applications • In domestic water supplies like wells • In fire protection systems to provide continuous water pressure • In hot water circulation systems to move the water in a closed environment

Positive displacement pumps These are the ones that deliver fixed amounts of flow through the mechanical expansion and contraction of its flexible diaphragm. This machinery is ideal for industries as it manages liquids with low and high viscosities alike; or where solid objects may be present. Positive displacement pumps are also called rotary pumps. It's an efficient lift station because it removes air from the pipelines, so it eliminates the need of bleeding air from the system. They do present drawbacks, though. These pumps are slower than its counterpart, as if it operates at higher speeds, the liquids could erode and reduce the efficiency of the system.

Septic effluent pump This sewage machinery moves clarified septic liquid from a pumping chamber to a drainfield. These systems don’t move solids, to they have durability standards that ensure a long-lasting machine.

Sump pump Sump pumps remove unwanted water from, such as groundwater leak into the building. Sump pumps are usually installed a the lower end of a basement or space floor. The system becomes a necessity on buildings where water runs on the lower levels because the liquid might erode foundation walls and pillars, and cause leaks and drainages.
