Initial quick guide on setting up Google Tag Manager

As with most advice in the public internet, it is highly advised that the Google Tag Manager tool is used to handle the set up of Google Analytics tag.

The tag manager tool allows a website owner to leverage on the tag management tool to load up tags on the side, at the same time, providing users the capability to changes tags on the fly.

Unfortunately, google tag management site provide a generic guide which would mean that it might be difficult for users to convey what they need tracked on the website.

We will go for some quick wins

• [x] What is the GTM snippet to be pasted in the codebase
• [ ] Custom Dimensions needed to be set up
• [ ] Custom Metrics needed to be set up
• [x] Setting up of Data layer
• [x] Setting up of events

Problems:

• Essentially, it will be ideal if one would be able to modify the markdown files to what one needs; however, a initial default template is needed. It might be a stupid idea to embed that markdown template file in the go code but instead, what we could do is to have the file on github, which we can then download and have it accessible.
• Able to set the order of the report or even to hide sections of the report. One way this can be done is by having a configuration file. (As usual, an initial default config file might be good to have at the beginning) - NOTE: Instead of having a free flowing template, might be better to restrict to something that makes more sense and is logical:

Some ideas:

• Generates out a giant markdown file that contain references to images
• Hugo tool can be used to generate out the web page nicely. Another alternative is to use a tool called gatsby which allows one access to the react world to generate the report nicely
