I think it would be good to be able to put data somewhere where other people may access the data without any obligations. I could imagine that this would make discussion on the production of datasets simpler (i.e. discuss about how to make it more cf-compliant? which variables are missing / too much?). Once a dataset reaches some required standard level, it could be moved into the official index and become widely available.

I think it is not a clever idea to ask every campaign PI to create a separate preliminary exchange platform for this task.

Short summary from discussion in Zoom session on 14 April 2021: There exists different opinios about the importance of this feature and the resulting cost (manpower, financial) : benefit ratio. Basically, the HALO DB includes this feature already. However, more advanced solutions could be thought about.
