Curses apps (mtr) make info and shortcuts disappear #299

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set gesture (double tap) to hide/show keyboard
2. Run a curses program like mtr
3. Gesture (hide keyboard)
4. Gesture (show keyboard)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect keyboard and shortcut and info buttons. 
Instead keyboard returns, but info and shortcut buttons are below (behind) 
keyboard. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r527, iOS 5.1, Xcode 4.

Please provide any additional information below.
