Downloader can't detect my premium account when I use VPN.

Crunchyroll - v3.17.2

issue

I'm using a VPN to access a region-locked series - I want to add some fair use clips from a historical show to a panel I'm working on.

With my VPN (Proton) I'm able to download locally licensed content. I cannot download anything not licensed in my region - I get the "you need a premium membership and must be logged in in the Downloader" error. I am logged in in the downloader. I have a premium membership which is being recognised. The region-locked episodes can play fine in the downloader browser.

I've tried using the plugin but the downloads time out ("cannot be found").

This is a fresh install of CRD and Proton. Do you have any recommendations? I'm not experienced in this but am generally practical.

I have a hard time finding the issue. The error message is an older one and was used to identify preview on the old CR page. This is done by just checking if the main stream is named master.m3u8 which has always been the case.

Also with Mozilla VPN it just works fine. I would recoment to start the VPN before starting the downloader, CR behaves strange if you enable VPN later. grafik
