Hey Joshua. Remix looks great.
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you; I imagine it should be possible to get STEP files, I guess I'm a little late for your needs though!
The model of the Tigard I got by importing the board design files from the Tigard repo
I'm a little surprised you'd have any issues printing this top-down on an X1C; it should be more than capable of printing the tiny overhang, but no reason not to improve it.
I printed the original orange one in PLA but I have some clear nylon which I think might be cool for the top of the case, I will have to give that a go.
I haven't tweaked the design in a while but I might make some updates if there's still interest in the case.
Hi Hamid,
Great work on this case!
I have a little bit of design-for-manufacturability feedback that I'll put in an Issue, since you so requested :-)
My primary suggestion is that there is not a good orientation for the lid to be printed. Specifically, if it is printed with the bottom side against the build plate, then the lip forms an overhang, and if it is printed with the top side against the build plate, then the recessed screw bosses form an overhang -- both of which are difficult to print.
I think my plan is to build a new top case that is a little more 'skeletal' that preserves the silkscreen legends, and includes the shims. Where did you get the model of the Tigard itself? Also, is it possible to export STEP files for these, rather than STLs? If so, I'll just load the STEP file into Onshape and remix it that way, rather than modeling it from scratch.
Thanks! joshua
