Adding a two-area public-address paging function #808

Where legacy non-voip office phones are in use or the environment is either too
noisy or sparsely populated with phones to permit effective paging coverage
(warehouse, car sales yard) I propose utilising stereo PC sound-card channels
to provide two separate outputs for public-address style loudspeaker paging.
Replacing a legacy PBX is often

I envisage three extension numbers be allocated for this paging function (eg
office, warehouse or both) and that the announcement be cached until the
handset is replaced on-hook. This delay avoids the complications of audio
feedback and local-area loudspeaker muting. It also allows the page to be
cancelled mid-flight; "When finished, hang up to send your page or press the
hash key to cancel".

Especially useful in situations where background music system is needed, as the
music could be provided by bridging from the sound card inputs as a
'pass-through' fed from a separate music source (CD player) to the sound card
outputs. The music would be muted, a chime played and then the delayed (cached)
announcement before restoring the background music.

This is an enhancement, not a defect.

This was placed under the 'Feature Request' dropdown. I dont understand how it
became a defect?
