Some suggestions for improvement #19

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 0.7b (0.7.1) on Macosx 10.6.6

First of all, thank you for making this player!

I have some suggestions that I believe could improve Audirvana even further.
I'm not trying to push you in any direction, they're just suggestions… ;)

// UI
- Add preference option to make player window (AppController) half size: it's
pretty screen hungry like this. Or even better in my opinion, consider
following the less wasteful UI approach by players such as Cog
(http://cogx.org/) and Decibel (http://sbooth.org/Decibel/).
- Please leave off the 'rubber feet': it's a waste of space

// Playlist functionality
- Add columns for track number, bitrate and sample rate. After all, this is an
audiophile player, right?
- Remember column width and order after closing/reopening application.
- Add playlist sorting by column (e.g. sort by name/album/bitrate/etc.).
Although from a quick glance in the source I see that you are deliberately
trying to avoid users from sorting the playlist…?
- Add support for *.cue files in addition to m3u.
- Add 'total duration' information to the playlist bottom, based on all items
in playlist (like Cog)

// File format support
- Add support for WavPack: http://www.wavpack.com/downloads.html
- Add support for APE: http://www.monkeysaudio.com/developers.html

// Plugins
- Just wondering, is there a reason why you embed audio libs in the fat binary
instead of calling them as external bundles/libs?

The playlist columns should be user-selectable. Sometimes I could not care less
about the quality since I know what I am playing and would rather use the
screen real estate for longer track names, etc

Love the look, feel and sound.

Love the feet... I do like the look of "the player" and looking over to my rack
I think it stacks up rather well.

Would love a "dim" mode for when the "wife" calls me.

Would love some indication of output signal strength... when switching between
players and cd player, different volumes can rather "excite" my maggies if you
know what I mean. Fidelai has a visible output expectation graph thingy.

Thanks for a great player. Phil

"- Add preference option to make player window (AppController) half size: it's

Personally I love the look and feel of the main window. If you use spaces,
there is no issue. Also you can use your mac's pause/play, forward, rewind keys
if that's what you might need.

"- Add columns for track number, bitrate and sample rate. After all, this is an
audiophile player, right?"

I like this idea. I would propose the developer use a right click trigger over
the playlist category titles to yield a contextual menu of choices that can be
selected to add more category columns, much like iTunes currently implements.

Yeah it's cool but I'd like to browse my "Music" folder IN the soft. That way,
I'd be able to add any "Artist" folder I like very simply.
I used to have Foobar2000 on PC.
