Max bit depth limit #30

When I use audirvana as my music player, I found that it always changed the
audio device bit depth to the maximum. That's good if the audio device is just
the DAC itself. However, it may cause the problem if it's a bridge device. For
example, I owned Kingrex UC192 which could transfer 24bits/192khz data via
coaxial and 32bits/192khs data via I2S, and I took the coaxial part to bridge
the connection between my MBP and the DAC. Unfortunately, the DAC (only accept
24/192) couldn't recognize the data if I opened audirvana which changed the bit
depth (ex. 32/192) in the very beginning, and I had to change the bit depth so
as to make it worked. Please make an option to limits the max bit depth; just
like the option to limits the max sample rate. Thanks!

Auirvana version 0.8.1, Mac OSX 10.6.7

Hi,

I am also facing the same problem. My Musical Fidelity does not support 32bits
but Audirvana kept pushing the bitrate to maximum causing my DAC not to work :(

Hi, I have the same problem with an Arcam rDAC. It accepts only 24/192 and
Audirvana (when upsampling is set) upsamples everything to 192 or 174 with 32
bit depth, so my DAC is not able to recognize the data stream...Giving the
possibility to set the bit depth to 24 bit could be a nice improvement!
Thanks for the grat job!

The number of interfaces working with 32bits is getting larger that the number
of DACs that accpets 32 bits.

Amarra and BitPerfect have solved this problem with a "max bit depth setting".
But I don´t like the sound, really prefer Audirvana !
