Sipdroid keeps registering and loosing it phone switches between 3G and HSDPA #151

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enable Sipdroid (any version) on 3G
2. You need to HSDPA coverage
3. Sipdroid will register when on HSDPA (green icon), the phone
automatically switches backup to 3G when there is no traffic and Sipdroid
will loose registry (orange icon). Sipdroid then tries to reregister so
the phone switches to HSDPA and the whole cycle keeps repeating itself.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Sipdroid should keep its registration with the SIP-server. Instead it
keeps going thru this cycle

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Sipdroid 1.1.1, Cupcake 1.5 on HTC Hero

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
PBXes.org

Same problem here. HTC hero (1.5) and asterisk pbx. Please fix, this is a show
stopper
for me :-(

This is indeed a show stopper.

When looking at the phones info page, I notice that the IP address does not
change on
3G/UMTS <-> 3G/HSDPA transitions. SIPDroid thus should not have to reregister
if:

* Transitions occur within the 3G group (UMTS <-> HSDPA), AND
* The IP address did not change.

Could the "previous" IP address be kept around in an object somewhere, so thst
the
above two conditions can be checked, and SIPDroid can forego reregistering?

This is SIPDroid 1.2.4beta on Android 2.1 on a Nexus One, on Swisscom in
Switzerland.
I have an "adb bugreport", which I could send you.

Regards,

Niek

(reopening)

Nice! However, SIPDroid now does not register on the Nexus One, and, what's
more, it
force-closes when I try to enter the Settings dialog.
