Alerts (new email) while on sip call damage my ears

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clear your unread emails
2. Start and keep a SIP call active
3. Get new email while on the call

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: suppressed ringtone, maybe vibrate or something
Actual Results: Loud beep directly in your ear; Loss of approx 1s
of incoming audio (varies with the ringtone, I guess)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.1, but this has been happening for months now, Android 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6 had 
the same 
results

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
