Call not using sipdroid when sipdroid does not run and calling through 'send sms/mms' -> sipdroid call'

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Choose exit in the sipdroid menu (to safe battery/data transfer)
2. Try to place a call to one of your contacts by selecting the
phonenumber, holding it and choosing 'send sms/mms' and select sipdroid
call, when available from the menu.
3. The normal dialer will now start and NOT sipdroid.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
You would expect sipdroid to start and to place the call, instead no
warning is given that sipdroid is not used and the normal (gsm) call is
used. This has been a very expensive 'bug' for me.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using sipdroid 1.1.3 on android 1.6 (also reproduced on 1.5 with lower
version of sipdroid)

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Using smslisto.com (betamax)

Please provide any additional information below.
My guess is that the function returns to the normal call program when
sipdroid is not found running. A solution would be to either give 1) an
option menu asking you to confirm you want to place a normal call or 2) an
error that sipdroid is not running or 3) start sipdroid and proceed as
normal using sipdroid.
