--
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Receive a call over Sipdroid/Gizmo5
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I'd expect to hear sound out of the earpiece, instead of the speakerphone.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.6, Android 2.0 (Motorola Droid)

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Gizmo5.. I can't get PBXes to work at all because of problems with
IPKall... it won't let me put an @ symbol in the SIP Number field.

Please provide any additional information below.

Addendum:

1. I got pbxes working, and the same thing happens with pbxes.

2. Putting headphones in doesn't change anything either. No sound goes through
headphones and it keeps blasting through the rear speakerphone.

After pressing the menu button select speakerphone. It's a toggle
switch. Does that help?

Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, pressing speakerphone while in a call doesn't change anything.

Even after pressing speakerphone, the "speakerphone" button is still available
in the
menu, it doesn't switch to "earpeice" or anything like that. And nothing
changes.

Issue 125 has been merged into this issue.

Please check selecting speaker phone from menu more than once. Version 1.1.7
also
contains an attempt to fix this issue.

You can also check if putting on hold for a few seconds helps to switch to
earpiece.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Thank you, 1.1.7 fixed the speakerphone problem. Earpiece is the default now,
and
speakerphone works on request as well.

1.1.7 also fixed the background problem by making the default white text on
black,
very nice.

Now the only problems are choppiness of incoming audio, callers say they hear
their
voice echo, and 2-second incoming call latency. Although I haven't used
Sipdroid on
Android 1.x, I don't recall it being this bad with 1.1.6. Does this merit the
starting of a new issue?

Thanks again!

Using sipdroid on a HTC Magic. All calls are through the speakerphone. I tried
all
suggestions above and can't get it to get through the earpiece.

The issue seems to be fixed. Edwin, you were probably mixing this up with
Bluetooth
support?

This is still a problem on my new T-Mobile Pulse Mini (Huawei U8110, Android
2.1?, QVGA) running Sipdroid v1.5.1 Beta.
Audio from Sipdroid is always through the back speaker, never the earpiece.
Toggling speakerphone mode only makes it louder / quieter. Plugging in a wired
headset does result in audio through the headset. Otherwise this great app is
sadly unusable for now.

This is also happening on my HTC Kaiser, which uses a hacked-up T-Mobile
MyTouch3G Firmware.

I am having this problem on my HTC Evo running Android 2.2 and using the latest
sipdroid from the market. It always uses the speakerphone for calls. Pressing
menu brings up a menu that does not have a 'speakerphone' option' Putting the
call on hold and then taking if off of hold results in not being able to hear
anything from the other party.

Also the mute button under menu during a call has no effect.

Same issue on GALAXY S - earpiece NOT selectable APART from when you play with
speakerphone icon and mute icon a few times THEN it just MUTES and you cant get
inbound audio working again - android 2.1 - SipDroid 1.5.7 - the best SIP app
i've tried BUT this bug makes it un-usable :-(

And with the Samsung Intercept. The sound initially goes through the
speakerphone for a second or two, then the earpiece for a second, and back to
the speakerphone. Clicking the speaker option doesn't do anything.

I also have a Samsung Intercept, on the Virgin Mobile network. I am also
having the speakerphone issue. Is there a fix for this?

I am also using the Samsung Intercept with Virgin Mobile. The call only goes
through the speakerphone. When I press the speakerphone button, it only makes
it louder. It would be great for it to go through the ear piece.

I, too, have the Samsung Intercept with Virgin Mobile (USA). I can't get a
call to use the earpiece under any circumstances.

Same issue on my samsung intercept on virgin mobile. Selecting speakerphone
just makes the audio louder. Using version 1.6.1.

I also can confirm this issue with Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept. This is
using 2.0.1 beta. Initial state shows the speakerphone not enabled. Selecting
the speakerphone shows it enabled for a moment, and then it goes back to its
unselected state.

Yep, I too have this problem on the Samsung Intercept (on Virgin Mobile).
Pressing the speaker button just makes the audio louder. It never comes
through the ear piece. Aside from that this seems like a great app.
Unfortunately I don't like using speaker phone. lol

I also have a Samsung Intercept (Virgin Mobile). No audio thru earpiece, it
gets louder when the speakerphone button is pressed and the echo goes away.

Same issue with Samsung Moment on Sprint. Why is this not being
fixed...considering its such an obvious issue. It's also an issue not just
with Sipdroid, but also with Fring or any other SIP client.
