RTP Incoming jittery/choppy #176

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Register on Asterisk server (trixbox) over 3G.
2. Place call to a phone (not asterisk extension)
3.

What is the expected output?
Should hear clear voice from the other side,

What do you see instead?
The other sides voice is very choppy

What version of the product are you using?
1.1.6

On what operating system?
Android 1.6 (on ADP1)

Which SIP server are you using?
Trixbox 2.6.2.3 (Asterisk 1.4)

Please provide any additional information below.

My recent upgrade to 1.1.5 and then to 1.1.6 from 1.0.4 has appears to have
coincided with choppy incoming voice problem

Interestingly when I call an extension on the same Asterisk server the call
quality is fine.

I believe I have enough bandwidth up and down. Softphones and hardphones
on the LAN registered on same asterisk server produce acceptable quality
voice, remote softphone extensions from the WAN also work fine with no
choppy voice.

There also seems to be a very long delay when I initiate the call and the
other side picks up, it takes perhaps 10 secs for me to hear the other
sides voice.

What do the statistics on screen say (lost and late packet ratios)?

Just did two tests.

Call to a mobile about 15% - 20% lost, 2% late.

Call to land line 15% lost, 0% late.

Just tried using Wi-Fi connection this time. Voice inbound to sipdroid still
jittery.

Call to a land line 0% loss 0% late
Call to mobile 0% loss 0% late.
