Overlay on HDMI input stream #146

Hi Hannes,

I have an Android box running Android 11 AOSP from Khadas. It's the VIM4 and supports HDMI input.

I would like to overlay text and graphics on the live HDMI input.

I have built your example and it's working as expected. However, when I switch to HDMI input (which is selected from an option in system settings), the overlay dissapears when the HDMI video is shown. It returns when the HDMI is dismissed.

This also happens if I use the camera app (which has the HDMI input as the feed).

I have enabled overlay on top of app for all apps.

Is the problem with the HDMI feed, or possibly overlaying on top of video?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Hannes, so what I have found is that if I reboot the vim4 after loading your app, it seems to work i.e. it will overlay on top of the HDMI. I could mark this as closed unless you think you understand why this might be, and can suggest a fix?
