unicodeescape error trying to read config in maya from path #58

# Error: (unicode error) 'unicodeescape' codec can't decode bytes in position 2-3: truncated \UXXXXXXXX escape

error trying to read config in maya from path no idea how to repro. maybe caused by using importlib.resources to load the file?
