Hello Community,

I hope this message finds you well. First and foremost, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Hans for the incredible work on this project. His dedication and contributions have not only greatly assisted my research but have also benefited the wider community in countless ways. It's truly been a cornerstone for many of us.

Understanding Hans' situation regarding limited personal time, it's with a heavy heart we acknowledge the challenge in maintaining the project at its best. However, the spirit of open source is all about collaboration and mutual support. In this light, and to honor Hans' legacy, I propose we consider transitioning the role of maintainer to someone who has shown consistent involvement and enthusiasm towards the project.

There have been several community members actively submitting pull requests and demonstrating a strong understanding of the project's direction and ethos. I believe entrusting the maintainer role to one of these active contributors could ensure the project not only continues but thrives.

To Hans, thank you for everything. Your work has laid a solid foundation that we hope to build upon. To the community, let's discuss potential candidates who are willing and able to take on this responsibility. This way, we can keep the wheel turning and continue the great work that has been started.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions.

The nice part about this being available on github is that anyone can fork the repository and continue development. There is no one stopping you from setting up a more community managed repo and continuing to develop it from there!

Hi all -- thanks for your kind words :) I've also been really impressed with the community's contributions to this project ! I've had several conversations about transferring ownership but none have manifested yet -- I think we are simply still missing a point person for this. If you have the time and technical skill to manage the repository, builds, releases etc. and want to take that on, please let me know!

I'm happy to transfer ownership to another person/organization or add collaborators to the present -- whichever structure is best for the team.
