Xiaomi Mi Wifi 3C (Mi-3C, R3L) Padavan firmware support #528

Closed minax007 closed 3 years ago

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear @hanwckf

I would like to share with you config files for the Mi-3C router, for whose creation @yuos-bit supported me: configs.tar.gz

In the latest version the following bugs were fixed:

The config files now can be considered as final.

Please feel free to upload those in your repository.

Dear Padavan users,

you can easily get Telnet-access to the Mi-3C wifi router by this exploit: https://github.com/acecilia/OpenWRTInvasion Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxzEvdDWU_s

The easiest way to install Padavan on this router is via BREED. Download link: https://breed.hackpascal.net/breed-mt7688-reset38.bin

Upload it via Filezilla in a Telnet session into the /tmp-folder of the router.

Then start terminal and install BREED: telnet 192.168.1.1 Telnet user: root Password: none (just hit enter) mtd -e Bootloader -r write /tmp/breed-mt7688-reset38.bin Bootloader

In BREED you can easily install the firmware.

Either you compile the TRX-firmware-file by your own with the config files shown above.

Or you install the precompiled TRX-file found in the below compressed file: MI-3C_3.4.3.9-099.trx.tar.gz

Before installing any new TRX-firmware-file in BREED you should reset to default setting: 0) !!!RESET vor dem Flashen eines neuen ROMs durchführen!!! Picture was taken from @yuos-bit blog: https://yuos.top/index.php/archives/11/

I can not get ip address automatically with your images, please help @minax007

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear zouyonghao,

please let me know in which mode you are using the router.

Thanks!

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Did you set to "factory defaults" (reset) after flashing?

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

Currently I can not connect to it after I install the image with breed, should I set the IP with a static one?

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

Did you set to "factory defaults" (reset) after flashing?

I tried it in breed, but it seems not working

minax007 commented 3 years ago

On my router it connects automatically (also in wireless repeater mode). So I would assume that the operation mode on your router seems to be different. Could you please describe me in which setup (operation mode) you are using the router. Is it connected to WAN, or as a wireless router? Is the connection to WAN not established automatically?

You can do the reset also in the menu of the router: http://my.router/Advanced_SettingBackup_Content.asp

Thanks for your reply, I only connect my PC to the router's LAN port, no WAN is connected. It can not get a IP via dhcp.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear zouyonghao, maybe you need to disconnect the network connection on your PC and reconnect it again after startup of the router.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

The cable needs to be either in ETH1 or ETH2 (white ports) ... not in the blue one.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

By the way ...

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

The cable needs to be either in ETH1 or ETH2 (white ports) ... not in the blue one.

Of course I use the white ports... I think it is booted, the light on the front work is a little purple though... The green LED on the ports is flashing. I can not see a WiFi.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Purple LED is correct.

It is really strange that the firmware I had uploaded here it does not work on your router.

Could you please give a try with the firmware which is in this package: https://www.lanzoux.com/iR724gojv5a

It is not by me. I had found this recently. And I do not know about its security. Therefore you should only use it for testing purposes.

Thanks!

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Is there any difference with that one regarding automatic address assignment? On my MiWiFi 3C router both work fine.

i3roly commented 3 years ago

since you guys are both active @minax007 and @zouyonghao, i am hoping you could give me some help on the optimal settings for VHT160 mode.

are you guys getting rated speeds at that bandwidth? is it possible for you to share your DAT file for this setting, just to ensure i'm doing things right? i'm getting frustrated and @Hanwckf doesn't seem to care haha

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear i3roly, I can't help you, because I am not using VHT160. But VHT160 is intensly discussed in the following forum: https://www.right.com.cn/forum/forum-171-1.html If your Chinese is as weak as mine ... then you can use Google translate :-)

i3roly commented 3 years ago

haven't checked right.com.cn in a while, thanks. i will do that.

just curious: are there newer mt_wifi drivers on the forum/ i remember getting some versions a couple years back. maybe they have a newer driver too

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

Thanks, I'll try this later.

Actually several days ago, I tried this one here, and it works for me but it is not stable, the network is very slow.

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

@i3roly I do not use 160mhz, but some guys published their firmwares on the forum and tested with 160mhz like this one

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear zouyonghao, yes, I had also tested the one you are referring to. Unfortunately all of those do not publish the source code. So I have created it by my own and have published it here. So that everybody can have full transparency. I am still wondering why my TRX-file did not work on your router. Because on mine it works flawlessly. And my PC automatically gets the IP address via DHCP.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

@zouyonghao I have checked the default router settings in the firmware I have compiled and see that the DHCP server is activated. So it should work out of the box. I have deleted all IP connection settings on my PC and reconnected with the router. And it didn't take a second to get automatically an IP adress assigned.

zouyonghao commented 3 years ago

I tried this and it seems working well for me, I noticed the author put the source here.

I do not have another PC, but I create a Windows virtual machine with a bridged network, and it also can not get an IP.

I also try to factory reset and re-flash your firmware again, it still did not work.

BTW, your firmware is so small (3.2M) while others are 7M at least, is that correct?

I think the only difference between your environment and mine is the breed version, I use the one offered in the post, but it seems different with yours.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear @zouyonghao thanks for testing and the link to the source code you have provided. I wasn't aware that someone else had already shared the code for the Mi-3C before. I plan to check later what the difference is so that I find the root cause why the address assignment does not work for you. The file size of mine is indeed only 3.2 MB, because I had deselected all additional features (like Shadowsocks or dns-forwarder) in the template file (whose source code is attached in the first post). In case you need those features, then just edit the template file (Mi-3C.config) and set "y" instead of "n" to all features you need, before compiling.

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Dear @zouyonghao I have tested the @yuos-bit version for the MI-3C and see no difference with regards to DHCP-server functionality. So it should behave the same. But the @yuos-bit version has a bug with regards to the ETH-port recognition. If you open up the following page ... http://my.router/Advanced_Switch_Content.asp ... and have your cable connected to ETH-port 1 you will see "no link" shown for LAN1. My firmware shows this correctly. Besides this bug, the only difference, as mentioned before, are the installed additional features, which can be added in the config file under "templates".

minax007 commented 3 years ago

Furthermore I see that the version from @yuos-bit is based on the Padavan source from @hiboyhiboy and still has the bug on the following page: http://my.router/Advanced_SettingBackup_Content.asp The Padavan version from @hanwckf works correctly.

yuos-bit commented 3 years ago

Hello, I have received your email. LAN1 interface information about mentioned in the email cannot display properly problem is indeed a BUG, I was ready to be repaired in the next version, and cause the cause of this error is due to the LAN network interface in the configuration file information with the actual physical information does not match, because before does not affect the actual use, so not to repair the function. The reason for this error is that there is no other reference material on the Internet for me to refer to. Instead, I configured this configuration file during my fumbling again and again. (With the help of netizens, I have fixed the problem of this network port during the firmware test of Xiaomi 4C.)

Dear @yuos-bit thanks for your response! I had "re-engineered" the interface and found out, that you simply need to assign the ports in the file "kernel-3.4.x.config" in the following way:

CONFIG_RAETH_ESW_PORT_WAN=0 CONFIG_RAETH_ESW_PORT_LAN1=4 CONFIG_RAETH_ESW_PORT_LAN2=2 CONFIG_RAETH_ESW_PORT_LAN3=3 CONFIG_RAETH_ESW_PORT_LAN4=1

In your file it is shown as "0,1,2,3,4" instead of "0,4,2,3,1". Please find enclosed the corrected file for comparing and adopting: kernel-3.4.x.config.tar.gz

yuos-bit commented 3 years ago

Yes, thank you for your reply. I will conduct the test at about 11 am east area 8 time tomorrow. Thank you for the configuration file you provided.

Dear @yuos-bit you are welcome! Please also check what is wrong with the site ... http://my.router/Advanced_SettingBackup_Content.asp It seems that not all elements get displayed. With the firmware code of @hanwckf it is shown correctly.

yuos-bit commented 3 years ago

Due to my work, I will conduct the test at 11:00 am in the East eighth district. I will inform you of the test result by email. Thank you again for your reply and help.

@zouyonghao : I have uploaded in the first post of this thread a new TRX-firmware file with the stock feature set (including: DNS-forwarder, Shadowsocks, VPN, ...)

@yuos-bit : You can find in the first post of this thread the updated config files for the stock feature set based on the latest hanwckf-Github-build-repository.

Dear @zouyonghao after having flashed the YOUS firmware (you had posted a link to it above) and reflashed to my own firmware which is based on HANWCKF's Padavan, I have faced the same problem you have mentioned, that the router does not provide via DHCP the IP address for my PC. Even though the router completely booted. WiFi was visible - but a connection to it was not possible. I couldn't figure out what the root cause is. The only solution I have found was to flash a full dump of another firmware to the router via BREED - and then to reflash the firmware of the first post of this thread. Then it worked again with DHCP.

yuos-bit commented 3 years ago

Dear All,      The Xiaomi 3C can start normally only after it is printed into the breed(a kind of Uboot) at the bottom. Besides, when swiping other firmware, it needs to restore the factory setting to the public version in the breed first. Otherwise, there will be a lot of puzzling bugs when swiping other firmware.

Dear @yuos-bit thanks for your help! I have flashed it via BREED, but it didn't work. The version of BREED I am using on the Xiaomi Mi 3C is: https://breed.hackpascal.net/breed-mt7628-hiwifi-hc5661a.bin It offers several reset options. Do you know which one is needed to be able to flash a new firmware, so that the previous one does not interfere with it?

yuos-bit commented 3 years ago

Dear,minax007       you can look my e-mail file or my blog with xiaomi 3c flash result link: https://yuos.top/index.php/archives/208/

In addition, the breed you use may have problems. Please use the linked breed below link:  http://sh.yuos.ml:9986/Linux/breed/breed-mt7688-reset38.bin

If you have any questions about how to use this you can use Google translation to translate my blog        Hope to be of some help to you. Best regards.

Note that you may also need to swipe into the MTK dedicated driver signal file.( eeprom) link: https://www.lanzoux.com/isRijgrsu6h Select the corresponding EEPROM file from the picture location - EEPROM. It should be 64KB in size and contain information such as the MAC address of the device

Dear @yuos-bit and dear @zouyonghao thanks for all the support you have given me and to the community! The adopted config-files and the latest stock firmware were uploaded in the first post, so that hanwckf can include those in his repository. Let us hope that many people around the globe will benefit from this. I hope that we have in future once more the chance to collaborate together.

BTW: I have posted a couple of furhter issues I have found: https://github.com/hanwckf/rt-n56u/issues/530 https://github.com/hanwckf/rt-n56u/issues/527

Maybe you have ideas how to get those fixed :-) May Allah guide you and protect you.

I am very glad to receive your email. However, I may not be able to fix this at present, because the adaptation I make is mainly an adaptation for the equipment I own in my hand, and I do not have the two buggy devices you submitted in my hand at present. If I have the chance, I will try to study it.

BTW: I have posted a couple of furhter issues I have found:

527

Maybe you have ideas how to get those fixed :-) May Allah guide you and protect you.

Dear,mibax007         About 5 g hz frequency you mentioned problems, I think you can try to transplant the same processor and WIFI chip type of driver to solve this problem, I have adapted the millet routing 3 c and millet routing 3 a and 4 c is through this way of thinking to deal with and successfully solved the problem, hope to be able to help you.

Dear @zouyonghao and Dear @yuos-bit

thanks for your response and your committment!

I have no clue about the processes at Github and how start a pull request. Therefore I have taken a brief look into the documentation and I see that I need to fork the complete branch of hanwckf, just for including a few config files. The comparison feature is also not needed, because those files are additional and there were no changes made to existing files. If I understood the feature "pull request" wrongly, please let me know, because I am a newbee at Github :-)
