I see that it has not been updated for 2 years

it isn't dead - but mainly a place holder at this point it needs somebody with more time than myself to pick it up mean time I'm working on smaller steps that I hope will slowly lead towards it the first one is a fork of remoteStorage.js to use SAFEnetwork as a storage backend
