Searching field types set to VMG Chosen Member in the Control Panel

I’m using VMG Chosen Member as a Field Type so administrators can easily add Members of a custom Member Group ‘Customers’ to different Channel Entries. This is fine, but when in the Control Panel I cannot search or filter on this Field Type. I have set the VMG Chosen Member (Customer) to be searchable but this doesn’t make a difference.

This is a major issue for my client, as they will need to be able to search and filter entries in the CP by ‘Customer’.

Is this is an actual issue or something else I could do to get around it?

Unfortunately it works this way because the field type stores member IDs, not member usernames. It's possible to adjust this but it's not something that could be changed quickly around our client work. What's the timeframe?

Ah, that's a shame.

Well this is something that they are just starting to use but they could cope without this element for now. If you are confident that this is something you could get working and could give me an approximate ETA, then I could pass that on and I'm sure it would give them more confidence.

It's definitely something we can get working, however, I can't commit to a specific ETA/support for it unless you (they) were hiring us on a commission to add it. Otherwise it will have to wait until we have some time free away from client work and could be a while. Sorry about that! Alternatively, if you add it in we're happy to merge a pull request!
