Add Unite to Gnome extensions #353

There's no Discussions section on this git, so I'll have to publish it here.

Hardpixel has declared Unite won't be published among Gnome extensions anymore. I am sure he had his motives to do so, but if possible I urge to reconsider this. It would be so much more convenient to have Unite back there.

If this extension really is to be removed from gnome extensions, the readme should be updated. But I agree installing from gnome extensions is much easier and faster for the user.

As uploading it manually to gnome extensions sounds tedious, there's a way to automate it with GitHub actions.

Is there any rationale about this decision @jonian ?

Does extracting it auto-updates it too?

Another pointless Linux holy war again?

jonian commented 6 months ago

Hey @Malix-off, no holy war or anything like that.

The review process has changed from checking if an extension does anything malicious and it works in general to the reviewers asking for changes that are personal opinions on how an extension should be coded. I don't have the time or the desire to make changes just to satisfy the review process.

This has been mentioned at https://github.com/hardpixel/unite-shell/issues/339#issuecomment-1764399267 when gnome 45 was released.

Understandable @jonian

Has you ever be rejected a submission?

In my experience, they are rather easy to comply with, nothing too fancy
