improve grType plotly check

I ran into a weird error where installed.packages failed on a server. As the function is already slow, I'd suggest using code from getNamespace to verify if a package is installed. Though I've never seen this method used, any idea why it wouldn't work?

After additional review, this won't work. An alternative to installed.packages is still requested.
