Replace native pipe #174

Fixes #159

Replaces native pipe with (more cumbersome) code that should be compatible with R releases prior to 4.1.0

Dear Frank, there are places where R versions are moving slowly. I feel that native pipe is slightly more readable. Maybe your well known package could postpone such a change. @HenningLorenzen-ext-bayer I feel that your editor defaults lead to change too many parts of code. IMHO, changes should be focused on the important parts, not at removing empty lines, which really is a choice of the package owner.
