This was briefly enabled but I had to disable it because of a flakey PCIe SATA card.

re frequency, yes, the default in the NixOS package is weekly, but folks seem to agree that's way too overkill and will only shorten the lives of the drives. Techpod Discord had this discussion previously and seemed to be some agreement around quarterly (less so monthly).
