Concept from @danibacon

A data visualization that puts budget data in a wider political context - who was Mayor, significant political events from the time, and so on.

The way I understand the idea, there is some similarity to this visualization of the Australian Federal Budgets, which gives a sweeping overview from 1978 to the present:

Basically be able to select date ranges based on historically meaningful dates like - Government terms, Municipality mayors, etc.
