Support for Consul DNS & Service Sync in GKE Autopilot #17977

Feature Description

The ability to use consul DNS in GKE autopilot, where is it not possible to edit the kube-dns configuration. At present it is not possible to use consul DNS in autopilot. Another option would be to use service sync, but this is also not available, as coreDNS cannot be selected in Autopilot

Use Case(s)

Ability to use Consul DNS and Service Sync in GKE Autopilot (Google's recommended GKE deployment mode these days)

Hi @maxkruger I'm working with the GKE Product manager to allow list Consul for both the mesh and the service sync use case. Thanks for the nudge. We will update as more progress is made. Stay tuned.
