1.8.0-beta1 PR #32

PR to get 1.8.0-beta1 working. No need to merge but related config to get 1.8.0-beta1 deployed via test channel.

@krastin We could probably put this in a 1.8.0-beta1 branch instead of main

Hi @aimeeu unfortunately we need to close this PR, as we should not be using the test channel for installs. To update we would need to a different PR.
