I think this section should look as on facebook - widget with 6 people (approximately) and the see all button We can do it like on the screenshot below - I mean not in the side-bar but in the main part. What do you think?
We were thinking more how linked in does it. We could do something similar to facebook but stack the people vertically in the side block.
see the linked in screenshot here:
As far as I understand this functionality selects people to display by common matches in descending order
I'd like to cache this data to decrease system load (like I did with the list of friends - it'll be enhanced) I plan to try RabbitMQ for emails, crawler and various calculations. I read about this technology and assume it will allow to decrease load in bottlenecks.
Roma, per comment in #15, "People you may know" should list common friends/connections in your location at top, then common friends/connections in other locations, so your logic in the 4 bullets above works.
Lets hold off on rabbitmq. We will initially roll this out in 1-2 cities to our close group of friends. Lets use simple caching like you did with friends for now.
Roma, I cleared my cache but do not see this widget show up.
This block has a fixed scrollbar which does not look good. Could we get rid of it?
